Composers Guild of America Institute Announces A Call For Papers
Deadline: October 31, 2012

The premiere issue of its new Composition and Theory Journal will explore Adorno's concept of "Musical Material." Papers of all durations will be considered.

Submissions should include a 300 word abstract and C.V and follow MLA formatting conventions.

The publication medium with be digital and will allow for inclusion of mp3 audio files and embedded images. The integration of audio examples and notated excerpts is therefore highly encouraged.

The CGA joined with its counter-part Hollywood Guilds on June 13, 2011 for a meeting with First Lady Michelle Obama at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly HIlls to discuss opportunities to properly tell the often overlooked, or mischaracterized, story of the military family.

J.J. Abrams led the discussion along with Army Wives creator Katherine Fugate.

Programs are in development within the CGA to aid this cause in a meaningful way.

The premiere event for the CGA was a presentation at the Writers Guild of America Show Runners Training program, held on Saturday, February 5, 2011.

The presenters- Ludwig Goransson, David Carbonara and Alan Elliott- explained in detail how great music can best be incorporated into their shows, and economically so, with great AFM musicians.
